Lake Breeze Section 54 Shiraz 2021

Description

Lake Breeze of South Australia’s Langhorne Creek region has been in rare form recently; consistently producing outstanding red wines at very appealing prices. In recognition of this, the family-owned winery was awarded ‘Best Value Winery Of The Year’ in James Halliday’s 2022 Wine Companion.

This 2021 Lake Breeze Section 54 Shiraz follows in the footsteps of the enormously popular 2020 vintage of this wine. Another phenomenal value Langhorne Creek red wine, Lake Breeze’s old vine Shiraz grapes were nurtured in small open fermenters, before being placed in French oak for 15 months maturation.

The result is an utterly delicious, flavoursome and medium-bodied Shiraz with plenty of trademark regional chocolate and dark berry flavours. With a velvety texture, a touch of spice and a long, balanced finish, this is a Shiraz of enormous appeal at this great price.

Review of the 2020 vintage included below

“97 Points. Some whole berry but no stem inclusion; 9 days on skins; matured in French barriques (25% new) for 15 months. This is a wonderfully elegant wine with a profusion of red and black berry fruits sustained by its silky mouthfeel, fine tannins thrumming on the finish. 14.5% alc. screwcap. drink to 2040. $26”- James Halliday, The Weekend Australian, 19th March 2022.
